Pull Up a Chair, and Let’s Get Serious …

[fauxbrit voluntarily converts to *Chair Aerobic*ism*]

Approaching the “Vintage 50” milestone can be a daunting thought especially if one does not have access to Madonna-like “doctors” & fitness gurus to keep us “young”. I keep reminding myself (millions of times) that my Vintage 50 mark is getting closer. Therefore, I decided to modify my long and intense exercise regime to a gentler, more efficient approach with equal effectiveness. Then when the opportunity to be trained and certified as a “Chair Based Movement and Exercise to Older Adults” Instructor, part of my exercise re-structuring had begun. However, would this new path also serve other subliminal purposes?

THINKING TO MYSELF: Hmm…delving into this new adventure has the potential to serve as a creative energy outlet as I earn more “vin*tage*ness points”. All of those years of participating with so (or too) many sports, dance, cheerleading and teaching aerobics/boot camp in addition to my background in education might come in handy. Nevertheless, this time, I will have more experience, empathy and patience (a big advantage for having a bit of vin*tage*ness). Living the dreaded nursing home experience with two of my biggest influential heroes, Granddaddy & Mama Dora Conner ( as well as other favourite family members), dramatically changed my perspective on vintage living. Moreover, if I can reach out to others living a “nursing home vegetative life” to bring more positive energy and happiness then I can truly believe that giving is better than getting.

You know one day thatextremely vin*tage person will be me. Hopefully I will know the chair aerobics routines already!
