The purpose of this Manufacturing Group was to help maintain American leadership and style in the Handbag Industry thus achieving better sales results.

FABCO designed handbags for evening and daytime wear mainly during the 1940 is -1950’s. At the time, their designs were innovative and pushed boundaries. They used various fabric types with superb detailing like plastic shell frames and broadcloth studded with varying shapes and sized nail heads. Company name: BEAU STERLING (BEAUCRAFT)

The creative company responsible for saturating the jewelry market with BEAU STERLING pieces was BEAUCRAFT Inc. This American jewellery manufacturing company was located in Providence, Rhode Island and was in operation from 1947 until September 2004.

Popular items: sterling charms & figural pins*

My first significant piece of jewellery was a sterling charm bracelet loaded with tons of sterling silver charms marking every family vacation & important event. During the 1960’s and early 1970’s, charm bracelets were still popular. Fans of this bracelet did NOT follow the “Less is More” rule. Conversely, the main objective of this bracelet was “CHARM OVERLOAD”. I followed this objective to the extreme by double filling every link. “BEAU STERLING” was the mark on the majority of my sterling charms. My local independent jewelry store or the larger department store 25 miles away always kept a wide range of “BEAU STERLING” charms in stock. I could usually find “BEAU” charms at boutiques and souvenir shops when on a family vacation.

“BEAU” charms were widely perceived as THE BEST charm available. The quality of the workmanship and materials combined with a reasonable price made “Beau Sterling” extremely desirable in past decades as well as in the present.”

Pull Up a Chair, and Let’s Get Serious …

[fauxbrit voluntarily converts to *Chair Aerobic*ism*]

Approaching the “Vintage 50” milestone can be a daunting thought especially if one does not have access to Madonna-like “doctors” & fitness gurus to keep us “young”. I keep reminding myself (millions of times) that my Vintage 50 mark is getting closer. Therefore, I decided to modify my long and intense exercise regime to a gentler, more efficient approach with equal effectiveness. Then when the opportunity to be trained and certified as a “Chair Based Movement and Exercise to Older Adults” Instructor, part of my exercise re-structuring had begun. However, would this new path also serve other subliminal purposes?

THINKING TO MYSELF: Hmm…delving into this new adventure has the potential to serve as a creative energy outlet as I earn more “vin*tage*ness points”. All of those years of participating with so (or too) many sports, dance, cheerleading and teaching aerobics/boot camp in addition to my background in education might come in handy. Nevertheless, this time, I will have more experience, empathy and patience (a big advantage for having a bit of vin*tage*ness). Living the dreaded nursing home experience with two of my biggest influential heroes, Granddaddy & Mama Dora Conner ( as well as other favourite family members), dramatically changed my perspective on vintage living. Moreover, if I can reach out to others living a “nursing home vegetative life” to bring more positive energy and happiness then I can truly believe that giving is better than getting.

You know one day thatextremely vin*tage person will be me. Hopefully I will know the chair aerobics routines already!

1, 2, 3, 4…Looking Good…5, 6, 7, 8!
