eggcup

The British love breakfast and eggs (soft cooked to be exact). According to my Brit Man, one must learn the fine art of cooking and eating them “properly”. Eggs are placed in boiling water (quicker if water is boiled first in electric kettle) and cooked for 5 minutes. Leave on stove with the water boiling. After 5 minutes, take out of boiling water and cool off by running cold water over them. Place large end in the egg cup.

Take a kitchen knife and tap egg close to the small end’s top. Place thumb and index finger around egg and egg cup and slice through egg with other hand. Place egg’s “cap” over to side. Either use a small egg spoon or teaspoon to carefully scoop the egg from top portion. This step will keep the gooey yolk from oozing out the cup. Continue to eat until entire egg is gone leaving only an empty shell. Then eat the little portion of egg from the “cap”. When done, place cap back on the egg and creatively decorate your egg for Easter (or anytime). Now if you are a child (or a child at heart), substitute “soldiers” for a spoon. “Soldiers” are pieces of toast stripes that can be dunked into the egg yolk. DELICIOUS!

If one is especially hungry, single egg cups can be replaced with a “twin” or *double cup!!

No excuses for not enjoying your morning breakfast!

If you have a favorite way to eat your eggs, please leave a comment for others to enjoy!
